We have enjoyed Buddy's on three occasions over the past two months. I have had the half-order nacho's (I added beans to the garden nacho's) - very good and more than enough for one person. I had the vegetarian burger and sweet potato fries - again very good. Lastly, I had the 8 oz. Steak and sweet potato fries - delicious! The steak was done to my perfection. The reason for only four stars is the house wines. I had a sub par house Chardonnay and a sub par Pinot Grigio. There are plenty of inexpensive wines in both of these categories to find better house wines. Yes, there is a KJ Chardonnay on the menu, but let's step up the house side please.

I was a regular until tonight. I was served sour cream - after I specifically said I could not have sour cream - as I have said every Friday for 20 years - but still I was served sour cream. In a dimly lit restaurant the difference between whipped butter and sour cream is a tad hard to discern. Im allergic to sour cream and ingested a whole scoop of it and then couldn't finish my steak or the beer I had just ordered. The waitress did say she was sorry but still charged me for the food I could no longer eat and the beer I could not touch. I made it home to hang out in the bathroom formthe evening and take prescription medication to counteract the sour cream. I can't risk going to this joint anymore. Most annoying, was the "Gee Sorry" after 20 years of being a loyal customer. Now the manager is basically telling me I should have said something! Umm - I told the server " I just ate a bunch of what I had just told you I can't eat and I need to get out of here before I am sick". So she brought the bill charging me for everything. The manager thinks I should have discussed it with her last night - a) I needed to leave and b) why is it the custom omers obligation to ask for a manager when both my wife and I told the lady she just made me ill.

Went to Buddies Bar & Grill today for lunch and I would go back again when I am in Lansing. Tuna Melt on swirl rye bread was the best I have ever had! Very good service, too.

Not awful, but not as good as their Okemos location. Good beer specials and pretty decent food. For the price its a good place to eat.

The service here is bad, I mean really bad. It's a bar, you're supposed to go and have a good time. If the people serving your drinks are awful to you, not really keeping in line with that idea

Standard local bar & grille, nice location as I leave within walking distance. The prices are good, they have a good selection of beers on tap. I love the nachos, they also have good burgers. A solid local place to catch a game on the TVs or a bite with the family!

Positives: free popcorn, nice staff, reasonable prices, expansive drink selection, a lot of TVs, the fritter wrap is delicious Negatives: below average food in general, don't order any Mexican food, don't order the mac and cheese Overall: worth it if you want a good place to watch sports, chill and have a drink, or snack on free popcorn

Great spot for both lunch or dinner. My favorite has always been the Buddies wrap, but since reading all the reviews I definitely will need to try the nacho's. In the many times I've stopped, I have always had great, service and food. I have no problem recommending to anyone. Also worth noting is there are two seating areas, one in the bar area with that atmosphere, and one that is more of a restaurant vibe.

It's a dive bar/sports bar, with actually really good food. If your the yuppie type you may not like the atmosphere but for typical sports bar patrons this place is pretty good. I had the fajita chicken wrap which I highly recommend and the nachos are really good as well. If I'm ever visiting in east Lansing again I will defiantly come back here.

Great value on burgers and also the small nachos, which could easily feed two. Beer selection is average but you can drink cheap ($3ish for domestic draft). Friday nights can be a little loud with the regulars and karaoke. Overall, a good low-key bar with excellent service where you can catch a game and hear the person next to you.

number of visits ~ 5 last visit ~ summer 2012 I used to live right down the street from this Buddies. It's a bit hidden on Lake Lansing near Hagadorn. I find this place to be very average. I've never been very impressed with the beer, but the food is reasonable. Many people enjoy their appetizers in particular. I've had interesting experiences when it comes to frequenting this bar and having an out-of-state ID. I had just moved from Ohio and because of the out of state driver's license, they made me provide three forms of ID. But they're not consistent with this. When a friend of mine came in later with a Wisconsin ID, she only had to provide one form of ID. I guess it just depends on the server and how strictly they are enforcing the policy at the time. This isn't really a bad thing, it can just be annoying/inconvenient. The one plus about this Buddies is that it is pretty much the only bar in this neighborhood (near Lake Lansing and Hagadorn). That's why I would occasionally go. But in my opinion there are much better bars if you don't mind traveling a few miles.

Buddies has some of the best bar food around. It's a hidden gem located north of campus off of Hagedorn and Lake Lansing. Very competent and attentive waitstaff! Overall a great find.

An average bar with a few perks. To begin, the nearby competition for this bar is non-existent, and while it's odd to see this place among houses, it's great if you're in the area. The beer selection wasn't the best, but the server was able to recommend some good ones that went well with my burger (which, by the way, was surprisingly adequate). It's my first time here, but it isn't much different from any other bar. Try their nachos and a classic cheeseburger.

Went here for a quick dinner and a draft beer. The beer was flat and I could tell they dont keep their beer lines clean. Jimmy's and Roadhouse are better options nearby and don't serve flat beer. I told the waitress about the beer and her response was that I drank to much of it for her to take it off the tab. I really didnt want them to bring me another flat beer I just wanted them to try the beer before serving one to someone else. I wont go back.

The bar is surrounded by Hot Shot Pest Strips. This type of insect poison is not to be used in any place inhabited with humans, it literally says that on the labeling. These insect strips are made for barns, empty houses, attics.... Not in a restaurant. Next time u are in there check them out they r nailed up all around the bar then google them to see how powerful and toxic they really are. They literally emit a vapor of this toxic chemical. yuck never going back. No sign of them at the Okemos location.

I'm glad to see that someone else has reviewed Buddies as Courtney can now attest to what a cool little spot this is. The nachos are huge. I perfer liquid nacho cheese, buddies has melted cheddar cheese on their nachos, but it is not disappointing by any stretch. Daily beer specials, and a decent crowd for a Sunday afternoon make for a great combination.

Having worked here as a waitress a few years ago, I can tell you that their nachos are second to none! Great place for a casual beer with friends on the patio. Golf leagues, softball teams and even church groups loved to meet here to share nachos as well as other great sandwiches and dinners. The two Buddies locations are owned individually by sisters who know a thing or two about the restaurant business having come from a family of restaurateurs. Stop in and say hello! The popcorn is on me...
